Hormonal Health: Men’s hormone balance plays a significant role in overall health. The balance of male hormones affects your energy, weight gain, mood changes, libido, skin texture, and many other symptoms. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, it may be a result of low testosterone. Although, if you are feeling any of these symptoms, they may not be related to hormone imbalance. Instead, it can be a result of environmental shifts or stressors on your body. If you are experiencing any of these changes and have concerns about your hormonal health, schedule an appointment with one of our providers to receive a health assessment and identify your hormone levels.

Nutrition: Nutrition plays a major role in men’s health. In fact, food can help heal your body of conditions that you have. General healthy eating can help boost your body’s metabolism, can increase your brain function, lowers your risk of disease and diabetes, and you can reach and maintain a healthy weight.

What does healthy eating look like? Generally, healthy meals look like a lean protein, a serving of vegetables, and a whole grain. Want to learn more about healthy eating and recipes? Check out our nutrition blogs!

Wellness Exams: Men’s physical exams are a key preventative measure to identifying the onset of serious illness early. Wellness exams will conduct screenings for your blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, BMI, blood glucose, and cholesterol.

Future Care:  The key to aging is taking preventative measures. As you age, be aware of the exams and screenings that should be completed at your age. If you experience any changes in your health, it is important to consult your provider with these new changes and seek care whenever you experience a new development in your health. If you have any questions or concerns about your health while you navigate these changes, consult your provider.

What are the routine checkups for men?

  • Prostate cancer screening: American Cancer Society suggests for men over the age of 50 to discuss this exam with your provider. However, men with a family history of prostate cancer should begin that conversation around the age of 40.
  • Colorectal Cancer Screening: Some recommend colorectal cancer screenings after the age of 50. If you have a family history of cancer, discuss with your provider about this screening around age of 40.
  • Skin cancer screening: The recommended age to begin annual skin screenings is age 65. However, if you notice any irregularities in your skin before then, speak with your provider. If you have moles, monitor any changes in appearance. Look for symmetry along the border, the color, and the diameter.
  • STD screening and preventative care: If you are sexually active, you should get tested regularly for STDs. STDs are a serious condition that must be treated immediately if contracted.

How can I improve my quality of life?
